In 2023, the Faculty of Educational Studies and the Arts at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” renovated the Alma Mater Gallery, transferring the organization and presentation of exhibitions and events to the Department of Visual Arts. The Alma Mater Gallery is located in the Rectorate of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” at 15 Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd., in the foyer on the ground floor, near the entrance of the north wing. The space consists of two glass-walled halls suitable for solo and group exhibitions, curatorial projects, documentary displays, as well as short-term artistic events such as performance, video art, and multimedia. The gallery’s mission is to promote the achievements of contemporary Bulgarian art and culture, to encourage collaboration with similar higher education institutions in Bulgaria and abroad, and to support visual arts students in their professional development. Alma Mater Gallery is dedicated to cultivating an engaged audience that is sensitive to the issues of contemporary art.
